The announcement of the launch of the MSI Wind NB U100 has created a stir among the other notebook developers. The notebook comes overloaded with features. This is a low-cost notebook with 10” display and battery power for 5 hours.
The specifications of MSI Wind NB U100 include the 10 inch display with 1024 x 600 resolutions with a decent storage capacity of 80 GB SATA hard disk drive. MSI used the Intel Atom N270 processor which has been clocked at 1.6 GHz and a 1 GB (expandable up to 2 GB) and 512 MB for Windows and Linux respectively. The MSI Wind NB U100 also has a 1.3 MP camera integrated in it and also 3 2.0 USB ports with Bluetooth functionality and two internal sound speakers. Also included is a gigabit Ethernet port, 802.11 b/g wireless networking, a VGA port, headphone output and microphone input. The keyboard is pretty decent, with the keys spaced at a distance of 0.68 centimeters apart. Another added feature is that this notebook can magnify individual parts of the screen, hence helping in better visuals. In software terms, the bundled softwares include the Microsoft Office 2007 and the BurnRecovery application.
